Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, and dirt free to ensure adhesion.
- Degrease any exposed bare timber by wiping with a cloth dampened with methylated spirits.
- Treat any resinous knots with an appropriate blocking primer, do not use a "knotting agent".
- Fill any minor defects, imperfections, or open joints with .
- Exposed, weathered, loose or greying timber must be thoroughly sanded back to a clean sound surface.
- Any non-preservative treated softwood timber should be treated with two liberal coats of .
Application
We recommend always following the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. Stir thoroughly, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before treating the entire surface to ensure compatibility.
- Do not apply when temperatures are below 8°C and above 25°C.
- Ensure the paint is thoroughly stirred, do not thin.
- Apply using a good quality, long-haired, soft-bristle paintbrush.
- Pay special attention to end grain, tops, and bottoms of the door and under cills for full weather protection.
- Apply 2-3 coats on previously coated timber or 3 coats on new joinery, allowing 16-24 hours between coats.
